Is this AI?
I’m sure nearly everyone with access to the internet has heard of ChatGPT, Bard, or Bing. There are many other variations that generate images, sound, music, the list goes on. Visit huggingface.co for a massive collection of available models and datasets, as well as hosting if you’re not looking to fork out for the hardware required to do some of the training.
I can’t help but wonder, is this AI though?
Clearly, we’re on the precipice of something amazing here but I think we’re unable to see what lies beyond these shining beacons. Traffic lights were probably originally seen as the epitome of automation, as much as we never imagined we could fit more than a megabyte on a stick of RAM. Are we doing the same with these learning models?
I suppose, as we cross the threshold where the lines between humans and AI begin to blur, we’re in for some interesting changes in our society.
As for my writing
I could easily throw prompts at these models for content on here but that defeats the purpose for me, I enjoy writing (nearly as much as I enjoy coding).
Does that mean I would remain abstinent when I hit a bit of writer’s block? Probably not. I’d usually search through various StackOverflow and blog posts for ideas on what to write about next, this just makes it easier to find what I’m looking for.
